Gashahun Kassahun, an Addis Ababa based visual artist, was born 19 80 in woliso, Ethiopia. He studied Fine Arts at the Addis Ababa University, School of Fine Arts and Design in 1999, He also majored in Painting at the Entoto TVET College 2011. For two years (2017-2018) he had been as an art Instructor at Entoto TVET College.

He was participated on Abro Ethiopia Artists Capacity Building Workshop coordinated by Abro Ethiopia And Asni Art Village team held at Goethe-Institute, Addis Ababa in 2010. And he was also attended the Curation Creative Hustle Workshop organized by Creative Futuers Programme at British Council 2017.

Working out of his studio he experiments with different techniques, mediums and forms. As part of the universe, he sees shifts in his daily existence that causes him concern about possible negative changes. His work is how he interact with the outside world and he attempt, through his paintings, to propose truth. In this effort, he have tried to move beyond the knowledge and insights earned from his real world experiences. To properly express his thoughts and feelings he has tried to develop a new visual language, based around organic and geometric forms.

Gashahun’s work has been showcased at various exhibitions throughout Ethiopia, including shows, The millennium heal group exhibition entitled ‘Art For Peace in 2018, the Laphto Art Gallery in 2016, solo exhibition at the Lela Ethiopian Contemporary Art Gallery in 2015, the National Museum in 2014(2), the Sheraton Addis 2014, 2013 and 2012, the Asni Art Gallery in 2011, Ethiopian National Theatre Gallery in 2011 and 2007, the ECA (Economic Commission for Africa) in 2008, the Hellenic Athletics Association – Greek Club in 2007, the Hilton Ethiopia in 2006, the City Hall in 2000, and His art also a part of private collections in Ethiopia and abroad.
