Born in 1972 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, a city where many gifted artists come from, Girma Seboka is no exception. He showed interest in art at a very young age and was recognized by countries such as Japan and Finland for his contribution to the international children and youth art exhibition.
Seboka attended school at Addis Ababa technical school and earned his diploma in drafting in 1994. From there he worked in an Addis Ababa municipality city development project. He then attended the Alle School of Fine Arts and Design of Addis Ababa University and earned his diploma in painting with great distinction in 2002. The same year, he held lectures at the university for summer students. From then on, he worked as a lecturer at the Abyssinia fine art vocational training center.
Seboka’s work has been shown in numerous solo exhibitions in Addis Ababa and has participated in group exhibitions as well. His work can be seen in all prominent galleries in Addis Ababa to include the St. George Gallery and the National Museum. St. George Gallery has exhibited Girma Seboka’s work since 2010.
